WOWWW it’s been a hot minute hasn’t it! My energy levels have been so low the past couple of months, and I’ve had to take everything slower – but ta da! – finally a new Mental Health Session for you 🙂
This week’s session is “24/7” by Kehlani, written about her own struggles with depression. I think this is such a lovely song, where she really uses her experiences to reach out and provide comfort to others. It’s about reminding her listeners that “it’s okay to not be okay”, and that we are never alone.
Kehlani has spoken about depression and suicide at her concerts, spreading hope and kindness to her fans. You can watch one of her mini speeches here.
This will be my last Mental Health Session before I leave for my SPD treatment next week, but I’ll be picking them back up when I’m back home in a couple of months! I’m finding coordination pretty hard right now, so I feel that my playing and singing is a lil bit imperfect, but, in the spirit of the song – “It’s the wave to not be the wave/ to make all your mistakes” – so I’m embracing my current best effort! 😉
[Bridge:]
I have my days when I am upside-down, topsy-turvy
I have my days when I am not myself, and I’m not worried
I have my nights when I’m not anxious
To wake up and feel any better
[Chorus:]
I don’t know nobody
Who thinks that they’re somebody
24/7
24/7
I don’t know nobody
Who smiles at everybody
24/7
24/7
I don’t know nobody
Who thinks that they’re somebody
24/7
24/7, 24/7
I don’t know nobody
Who smiles at everybody
24/7
24/7
